Custom Duct Marker
Custom Duct Markers are easy to design online and give you the exact wording you are looking for. Although we have a large inventory of stock duct markers, sometimes you need the wording to be slightly non-standard on your duct marker. These are easy to apply adhesive backed markers that include your custom wording plus an arrow in your choice of 3 different color combinations.

Brimar's Self-Adhesive Duct Markers
- UV printed vinyl labels used to identify sheet metal ducts and the directional of air flow.
- Self-Adhesive Duct Markers are provided with an aggressive adhesive to ensure permanent adhesion to a variety of insulated and non- insulated surfaces.
- Each duct marker includes a die cut directional arrow to be applied in any direction.
- Markers can be used both indoors and outdoors.
- Duct markers are available in 2 sizes (DMS & DML) and 3 colors.
- Style DMS is 16 x 2-1/4" with 1-1/2" high characters and can be used on ducts up to 24".
- Style DML is 24 x 4" with 2-1/2" high characters for use on ducts over 24".

Marker Colors
Color is the secondary means to identify the contents of a piping system but, many times the most important.
The color of the marker should be used to identify the characteristic hazard of the contents of the pipe.
Install duct markers with permanent adhesive on air ducts in the following color codes:
- Green: For cold-air supply ducts.
- Yellow: For hot-air supply ducts.
- Blue: For exhaust-, outside-, relief-, return-, and mixed-air ducts.

Duct Marker Material
3.5 mil thick flexible vinyl with a heavy coat of aggressive permanent acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive ideal for indoor and outdoor applications. The legend is printed using UV fade resistant inks.
Installation Guide
Brimar recommends the following locations for installation of duct markers:
- Locate duct markers where ductwork is exposed in finished spaces; machine rooms; accessible maintenance spaces such as shafts, tunnels, and plenums; and exterior non-concealed locations as follows:
- Near each damper.
- Near each branch connection. Mark flow direction at each branch.
- On both sides of penetrations through walls, floors, ceilings, and non-accessible enclosures.
- At access doors, manholes, and similar access points that permit view of concealed ductwork.
- Near major equipment items and other points of origination and termination.
- Spaced at maximum intervals of 50 feet along each run. Reduce intervals to 25 feet in congested areas where ductwork is partially hidden by other pipe, ductwork or equipment.
- On both sides of every change in direction.
- When several ducts from different units are located in concealed congested areas, locate identification at air handling unit, at each side of penetration of structure or enclosure, and at each obstruction.
- Provide a minimum one label per pipe per room. Where pipes are racked, install pipe markers on each pipe in the same location to aid in differentiating each pipe in the rack.
