ENGRAVED NAMEPLATES GUIDELINES & SELECTION


Nameplate Sizes Specifications:

First Dimension: Width

Second Dimension: Height

i.e. 3" x 1" (width x height)


The space between lines of text will be 50% of the character height (i.e. Two 1/2" lines will have a 1/4" space between them)


Leave no less than 10% of the vertical height of the plate as the minimum amount of border required at the top & bottom of plate (i.e. 2" high nameplates should have a .20" top and bottom margin or total top and bottom margin of no less than .40"


Character heights available:

Copy to fit, 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1"

Mounting Methods Options:


  • Adhesive
  • Adhesive with 4 Corner Holes
  • Adhesive with 2 Top Corner Holes
  • Adhesive with 2 End Holes
  • 4 Corner Holes
  • 2 Top Corner Holes
  • 1 hole on each end

Note: Nameplates will be provided with 2 mil Adhesive backing if no mounting method is selected.

Holes require 1/2" space allocation on each side or a total of 1" in length (i.e. 3" long nameplates with holes will have a 2" long space for copy)

Engraved Plastic Nameplates

Brimar manufacturers a quality engraved plastic nameplate with many popular options. The nameplates offered here are available in 1/16" thick 2-Ply and 1/8" thick 3-Ply plastic, with adhesive backing or mounting holes, beveled edges and 1 side engraving. Many other options are available please call for pricing.

Engraved Phenolic Nameplates

Phenolic material is a rigid thermoset material which is electrically non-conductive. Brimar's phenolic material conforms to military standard LP-387A TYPE N.D.P., LP-509. The nameplates featured here are 1/16" thick with adhesive backing or mounting holes, square edges, and one side engraving. Many more options are available, please call for pricing.

Engraved Aluminum Nameplates

Brimar engraves .032 anodized aluminum for a neat, sharp contrast of wording against background color. Ideal for control panels, mechanical equipment, tools, and office equipment. There is no color fill for these plates, the character color is natural and contrasts with the surface color.

Laser Etched Nameplates

These plates have permanent black copy and are ideal for corrosive environments that require variable or complex information which needs to have contrasting black copy.


Laser etching permits the efficient digital creation of the text and text blackening simultaneously.


Ideal for areas that are washed down frequently or on apparatus that have a high surface temperature.
